The carbon footprint of your trip
At Kelifos, travelling differently begins with a simple principle: saying things as they are. For each of our holidays in Greece, we measure the greenhouse gas emissions generated during your stay, expressed in kilograms of CO2 equivalent per person (kg CO2e).
This is neither a label nor a marketing promise, but honest information, so that you can travel with your eyes open.
What we measure
| Category | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Charming addresses | Your nights in hotels and guesthouses, according to their energy consumption |
| Flavours | Meals taken locally, taking account of local habits |
| Local transport | Organised journeys: shuttles, boats, transfers |
| Your luggage | Its forwarding from one stage to the next |
For Greece, an island destination, the return flight from your departure region is also included in the calculation, because it is most often the heaviest element.
The flight, a weight we do not hide
Reaching the Cyclades, Crete or the Ionian Islands almost always means taking a plane. We have chosen to count that flight rather than ignore it in order to display a flattering figure.
In concrete terms, a walking holiday in Corfu, flight included, represents in the order of 780 kg CO2e per person, the greater part of which comes from air travel. Once on the spot, our itineraries on foot or by bike, taken at a gentle pace, generate very few emissions.
How we calculate
- Specialist databases: KlimaLink (accommodation), Greentripper, ADEME, Climatiq
- Real distances: calculated with mapping tools
- Field data: type of vehicle, fuel, occupancy rate
All of it is brought together in a reliable tool, with results presented clearly and in a standardised form.
A regulated approach
We follow the European Green Claims directive, which prohibits vague or misleading environmental claims. No unjustified mention of "eco" or "neutral": only precise, verifiable data.
Travelling with your eyes open
Understanding the footprint of your trip already means being able to act: favouring a direct flight where one exists, taking the train for part of the journey, or simply going away for longer and less often, to savour each stop fully.
