Why visit Greece in September?

Temperatures remain wonderfully pleasant, between 25 and 29 degrees, with mild evenings that let you dine outdoors without the slightest chill. The sea is at its peak (24 to 25 degrees), offering swims of rare comfort. The meltemi fades, the waters calm, and ferry crossings become blissfully smooth.

It is the start of the grape harvest and the fig picking. Villages celebrate with local festivals: tastings of new wine, shared meals, music under the plane trees. The September light, low-angled and warm, is the one painters and photographers seek. The summer visitors have gone: you rediscover an intimate, authentic Greece.
