Lefkada
White cliffs and turquoise sea

Connected to the mainland by a bridge, Lefkada is the most accessible of the Ionian Islands, and one of the most spectacular. Its white cliffs plunging into waters of an unreal blue, its colourful fishing villages and its olive-covered hills compose a striking Mediterranean tableau.

What makes Lefkada unique

The beach of Porto Katsiki, framed by immaculate limestone cliffs, is regularly ranked among the most beautiful in Europe. But Lefkada is more than this postcard image. The village of Nidri, facing a string of green islets, invites boat excursions to secluded coves. The town of Lefkada, with its colourful corrugated-metal facades (an earthquake-proof tradition that has become an architectural signature), offers a stroll full of character. Inland, trails wind through olive groves and peaceful villages where you settle in for grilled fish with a glass of local white wine. The island also lends itself beautifully to cycling, with panoramic roads accessible by e-bike.

When to visit Lefkada

From May to June and September to October, Lefkada offers a perfect balance of mild climate, welcoming sea and tranquillity. Spring is ideal for walking through the flowering hills. Discover Kefalonia and Ithaca, its southern neighbours.
