From your balcony in the morning, the air carries a blend of orange blossom and sea spray. The sea sparkles a hundred metres away, the pool is still quiet, and Chania, with its Venetian lanes, awaits just minutes away. This is your base for eight days of Cretan escape in total freedom. Your hire car parked below, your route guide in hand, you choose each morning the adventure that suits you: a lagoon of translucent waters, a forgotten monastery in the mountains, a village taverna where the owner pours you a glass of his homemade raki. Practical information
You stay in the same charming hotel for all seven nights, minutes from Chania and a hundred metres from the beach. The studios feature sea views, a balcony, a kitchenette and air conditioning. The hotel also has a pool, perfect for the end of the day. No packing and unpacking each day: you settle in once and explore freely.
Breakfast is included each morning. For lunches and dinners, you are entirely free to choose from the tavernas, fish restaurants and gourmet addresses we suggest in your route guide. The kitchenette in your studio also lets you prepare a picnic with produce from the Chania market.
This trip is designed to be accessible to all regular walkers. Walks last from two to four hours, on well-marked trails, at a pace that leaves time to stop, observe and photograph. The Gramvousa-Balos day is the longest (approximately 3 h 30). The Samaria option (Day 4) is more sustained and remains entirely optional: a gentler alternative to Loutro is offered.
A hire car is included from Day 1 to Day 8 (pick-up and return at Chania airport). It gives you total freedom to explore western Crete at your own pace, without timetable constraints.

Spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) are the ideal periods: mild temperatures, magnificent light, sites free from the summer crowds. This is Crete at its most agreeable.
