Eight days of gentle discovery across the wildest shores of Crete, with an English-speaking guide who knows every hidden path, every seaside taverna, every story etched into the island's ancient stones. With Kelifos, everything is arranged for your comfort: your luggage awaits you each evening, transfers are seamless, and the island's most striking landscapes unfold before you without a care.

This small-group journey (14 people maximum) follows the dramatic southern coast from Rethymno's green hinterland to the towering White Mountains. You walk through legendary gorges — Aradena's narrow, oleander-lined passages and the famous Samaria, the longest in Europe — swim from marble beaches where the water is impossibly clear, and discover cultural treasures from the Arkadi Monastery to the Minoan Palace of Knossos. The pace is easy and unhurried, designed for active travellers who prefer pleasure to performance.

This trip is also available with a French-speaking guide.

Practical information

You stay in charming boutique hotels and quality family guesthouses (2 and 3-star), in double rooms with private bathroom. Single room available on request. You carry nothing: a small daypack with your personal items is all you need. Your luggage awaits you each evening at the hotel.

All meals are included, from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast on Day 8. Lunches take the form of picnics made from fresh local produce, or meals at a taverna. Dinners are served at the hotel or at tavernas selected by your guide. Cretan cuisine is a daily celebration: olive oil, mountain cheeses, sun-drenched vegetables, catch of the day.

This trip is accessible to all, including beginners in good general fitness. Walks last from 1 to 4 hours per day, on well-marked, easy trails. The out-and-back version of Samaria Gorge avoids the full descent. Your guide adjusts the pace to the group and offers shorter alternatives whenever possible.

From 5 to 14 people, accompanied by a qualified English-speaking guide. Conviviality and sharing are at the heart of the experience, with respect for each person's rhythm.

8 days / 7 nights / 5 days of walking.

The trip begins on Day 1 at Heraklion airport and ends on Day 8 at the same airport.

Spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) are the ideal periods. Temperatures are mild, the light is magnificent, and the sites are less crowded.
